![]() Since it processes the sound from the guitar, you will get even more variations, although some of your patches may need to be tweaked. If you get the chance, try it with different guitars. The number one thing is to ignore the presets and get in there and tweak. The VG-88 is among the best (the very best IMO) guitar processors and among the most misunderstood (the most misunderstood IMO) ever made. This combination allows me to track several different guitars (accoustic, electric, over-driven and clean) and then mix down through outboard processors, or just leave the tone alone. I have sold my VSR-880 and replaced it with an Alesis HD-24. You can also try the 12 string electric through a different amp.try the Fender Twin or the VOX. The factory setting is more of a Tom Petty sound. Turn down the preamp setting and/or the drive for a cleaner sound. The Ric 12 string factory setting has a bit more drive than I prefer. I went in and set the preamp setting to low gain instead of normal and that helped a little.
